Jaw Surgery
Orthognathic surgery, also known as corrective jaw surgery, is required when one or both of the jaws are misaligned due to either excessive overgrowth, undergrowth, birth defects, or injury. The results of this misalignment are teeth that do not fit together properly, difficulty with jaw functioning, poor facial/oral esthetics, and crooked teeth. Corrective jaw surgery is a way to move the bones of the upper and lower jaws into proper alignment. This procedure is often performed on patients after their teeth could not be placed into proper alignment with the help of orthodontic braces. After surgery your teeth and jaws will meet and function properly, and your facial appearance will be either unchanged or esthetically improved in accordance with your wishes.
